Clare trained as a Painter and has taught printmaking for over fifteen years. She makes her collagraph plates by building up layers of carborundum, pumice and acrylic gels on strong card. Using an intaglio method of printing and an etching press, Clare creates heavily embossed textures and deep velvety tones, which contrast with bright colour rubs. She often incorporates rust imprints and metal leaf to create areas of light and interest.
Clare’s residency at Brisons Veor inspired her most recent collagraphs where she was absorbed by the ancient rock formations, weatherworn fragments and changing landscape.
