Maria Merridan was born in St Albans, Hertfordshire in 1970. She studied Illustration at Kent Institute of Art and Design (1989-1992) and more recently completed a Certificate in Printmaking at Curwen Study Press, Cambridge. She now lives and works as an artist near the Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire border and is a part-time Lecturer in Art and Design at a local college.
Her fine art works is inspired by the themes of science, natural history, navigation, weather and journeys and her work is contemporary often in monochrome. She creates striking original designs into stunning contemporary, hand-printed cards, art prints and other original paper-based items.
